Schools

New schools should reach out to us through the contact form.

Your message should include the name and contact details of the person who will represent you at Jury meetings. We prefer past NZMO Campers as Jury members, although a math teacher or a student with a strong interest in math is welcomed, too.

In addition, ISMO relies on its team of markers and donations from schools to function. Although this is not necessary, we would be truly grateful if you can nominate a few markers from your school, and/or give an estimate on how much funding you will be able to provide. Nominations and estimates are non-binding.

Positions

We welcome new members! See below for a list of open positions. Applicants should use the contact form to reach out to us. You can hold multiple positions.

In addition to members of the organisation, anyone can propose problems using email or the contact form. All proposals are added to a longlist, from which the Board selects the shortlist. Please note that proposing a problem would make you ineligible for that year's competition, even if it isn't used.

Board

The Board makes day-to-day decisions, such as composing a shortlist of problems, selecting a markers team, and inviting new schools. Members need IMO or equivalent experience, or be otherwise found competent by the Board.

Jury

The Jury supervises the Board and produces the exam by voting on problems from the shortlist. It consists of one representative from each participating school, who can be either a student or a teacher. No qualifications, other than approval from your school, are required, although experience with math olympiad is recommended.

Markers

The markers grade the exam. Markers need NZMO camp or equivalent experience, or be otherwise found competent by the Board.
