An Olympiad for Everyone

ISMO started out in 2022 with a few New Zealand Math Olympiad campers who wanted to create a joint selection test for their schools' Auckland Math Olympiad teams. Since then, it has grown out of its original mission into its own competition with 200+ contestants, 10+ schools participating annually, although many schools still trust us as a key stage in their selection process.

We are open to every secondary student in New Zealand, regardless of their skill level and prior experience. Students should register through their schools. If your school is not already participating, you can ask your math department to join us, or become an organiser yourself.

Contestants who have already been to the NZMO January training camp are discounted from the official ranking. This ensures that new talents have an opportunity to shine on a national stage.

We are not affiliated with the Auckland Mathematical Olympiad, the New Zealand Mathematical Olympiad Committee, or the International Mathematical Olympiad.
